In two years, I went from 285 > 170 pounds and ran a marathon and completed a triathlon.
Although I know I’ve changed over the past 4 years now, I look back and think of the journey it has taken. I really didn’t do it for appearance or recognition, only to change a lifestyle that I know was killing me. At the end of 2017, I was at the lowest of my low, with a stressful job, failing relationships (family and friends), I was really a mess and my body looked like it.
My dad had passed away recently due to health problems (i.e. cancer) and I really was at high risk for a multitude of diseases. I had to change, mentally I was exhausted and physically I was self-destructing. A friend and colleague who I really did not know as well (but to this day I am forever grateful) gave me a birthday present…the book “4 Hour Body” by Timothy Ferriss (author of “4 Hour Workweek”). This book basically did change my life, after reading it I was skeptical, but after taking a leap of faith and changing my lifestyle, all I can say is it worked!
Since changing my lifestyle I began embracing other goals which involved career and fitness (as well as repairing my relationships with Friends and Family). With my life seemingly in order I entered into a new phase of my fitness journey (running and triathlons). In August, 2019 after years of wanting to do the Triple Crown of Half Marathons in San Diego, I was able to complete the three races (Carlsbad, La Jolla, and AFC). After finishing those races (and PR’ing and each of them) I knew I could conquer any goal I dreamed…now with my sights on IronMan I will strive harder and work determined to achieve.
My life mission is to inspire others and share my journey, but to do that I needed to inspire myself and have my own discipline. This is my first post and I really am doing this because a buddy of mine wanted me to share my journey (I was always content on leaving it private for myself)
Now after almost a year in Covid lockdown, I want to start bring you some home fitness tips, whether you are here in Denver, or anywhere. We’ll get started with the essential items you need to start getting fit at home.
